Collection: Liquid Cultures For Mushroom Cultivation

Liquid cultures allow mycelium to grow on a 3D surface, which is ideal if you're looking to expand your culture library. Compared to spore syringes, LC's will colonise your grain, all in one bags and agar plates much faster – since you won't need to wait for spores to germinate. All of our liquid cultures are made in cleanroom conditions and are checked for contamination before being made available. All of our liquid cultures are available for next day UK delivery.

Mushroom Liquid Culture FAQs:

How long does it take liquid culture to colonise a bag?

Colonisation speed depends on the mushroom strain and conditions, but most liquid cultures show visible growth within a few days and can fully colonise a grain or all-in-one bag in 2–4 weeks.

What is the best way to store liquid cultures?

For best results, keep liquid cultures refrigerated (2–4°C) in their original syringe. When stored correctly, they can remain viable for around 6 months.

Can liquid culture be used directly in a fruiting block?

Liquid culture is designed to colonise grain first, which is then mixed into a substrate for fruiting. Direct use in a fruiting block is not recommended, but our all in one mushroom grow bags are designed to support direct inoculation with liquid culture.

How much liquid culture should I use?

We recommend using around 2-5ml of liquid culture per bag when inoculating sterile grain. or all in one blends.

What are liquid cultures?

Liquid cultures are a quick way to grow mycelium on a 3D surface using a nutrient-rich broth. Liquid cultures are usually stored in jars or syringes. Unlike spores, they’ve already germinated, so they’re great if you’re after genetics that’ll quickly grow.
