How To Use Your Liquid Culture Jar: The LC Inoculation Guide
Louis Cummings-
Unbox your liquid culture jar kit and remove any packaging.
-
Set up a clean workspace in a small room with minimal airflow.
-
Wash your hands and clean your spore or liquid culture syringe (sold separately) with an isopropyl wipe.
-
Remove the cap from your syringe and connect the needle.
-
Use the wipe that came with your kit to clean the injection port on the lid.
-
Remove the cover from your needle and insert the syringe into the injection port.
-
Add 1ml-10ml of liquid (depending on preference) from your syringe into the jar.
-
Place the jar in a room temperature space out of direct sunlight and wait for it to grow.
-
After a week, shake the jar daily to break up the mycelium and speed up growth – do not remove the lid.
-
Once 50% of the jar contains mycelium, you’re ready to harvest the liquid culture!
-
Setup a clean workspace again and wash your hands.
-
Prepare empty syringes by connecting each one with a needle.
-
Remove the cover from the needle, insert the syringe into the injection port and pull liquid in.
-
Put the cover back on each needle and repeat step 13 as necessary.
-
Store the liquid culture jar and syringes in the fridge until you’re ready to use them.
-
Use your new liquid culture syringes to grow mushrooms!
