Collection: Mushroom Spawn Bags

Here you'll find mushroom grow bags designed for spawn production. Each bag features a filter patch that provides just enough airflow to help your mycelium grow, without allowing mould spores through – keeping your homemade sterile grain, sterile.

Autoclavable Mushroom Bag FAQs:

How do I seal my mushroom grow bag?

Once you’ve sterilised your grain or substrate, you can seal your mushroom grow bag using an impulse heat sealer or by simply folding the bag and tying it up with a cable tie.

How do I sterilise my mushroom grow bag?

You can sterilise your mushroom grow bags using a pressure cooker, pressure canner or autoclave. Make sure to follow all safety advice from the manufacturer of whichever equipment you use.

What temperature can my autoclavable mushroom grow bag handle?

Autoclavable mushroom bags can tolerate high temperatures, but for best results, sterilise your mushroom grow bags at a minimum of 121ºC (1 hour 30 minutes for substrates, 2 hours 30 minutes for grains).

What are the white filter patches on autoclavable mushroom grow bags for?

The white filter patches on autoclavable mushroom bags allow the mycelium inside the bag to ‘breathe’ by exchanging gas through the patch. Despite allowing access to the outside world, these filter patches do not cause contamination – due to the filtering of microorganisms that they provide.
