Why is my grain bag turning green?
Green patches are typically Trichoderma (mould). If the colour spreads or looks dusty, discard the bag (don’t open it indoors). Root causes are almost always: too-wet grain, inadequate sterilisation time/PSI, dirty inoculant (spores/LC), or handling outside a SAB/flow hood. For prevention: hydrate grain to dry-on-the-outside, sterilise at 15 PSI for 90–150 min (bags) or 75–90 min (jars, small loads), cool fully before inoculation, and work in a still-air box with wiped gloves/tools (70% IPA). Only shake once at 20-30% colonisation and keep filters clear and dry.
