Why are my pins aborting before they mature?
Pin aborts usually come from low humidity, stale air, or temperature swings. Keep fruiting RH 85-95%, provide frequent gentle FAE (oysters need more), and avoid direct fan blasts that dry caps. Maintain temps in the cultivar’s range (e.g., oysters 12-24°C depending on species). Surface conditions matter: fine beading on the substrate indicates good moisture. If it’s matte/dry, mist the chamber walls/air (not directly on pins). Check CO₂: tall skinny stems = too high; increase FAE. Remove big water droplets from caps to prevent bacterial blotch.
